Chapter Meeting 6pm on 12/9/04 OSU Annual Conference Meeting Notes by Anne
Baird Attending:
Robert McCall, Nathan Watermeier, Dana Oleskiewicz, Anne Baird, Joe Bonnell,
Jerry Iles, Gary Comer, Dave Apsley and J.P. Lieser (Not in attendance -Chris
Zoller, Kathy Smith) Agenda: 1.
Reviewed history of Ohio Chapter ·
Chapter formed at National ANREP Conference in ·
J.P. Lieser reviewed mission of the National Chapter. ·
No reports of officers or unfinished business. ·
There is no program for this meeting, although perhaps in
future. ·
Bylaws call for one annual meeting per year; however we may
decide to have additional special meetings. ·
Next year our annual meeting will take place at OSU
Extension’s annual conference, but we will not meet during OEAA or ESP
meetings. We will schedule our own time with conference planners. 2. New Business Ratification of by-laws.
·
Joe had several suggestions. ·
Dana would like to have more time to look at them. ·
Please get comments to J.P., by January 15, 2004. ·
We will ratify bylaws at our next meeting on March 9th
from 1:30-3 in Leadership terms,
currently there are 6 positions. ·
Past President stays on as board member. ·
Terms start now as of this annual meeting on December 9th
. ·
Annual meetings will occur at Extension Annual meetings. ·
Leadership terms: 1-year for all officers, 2 for board of
directors. ·
Dana, 2-year to start off, Jerry 1-year. ·
Keep all the people you have now. ·
Check if Chris wants to stay president. (Chris has agreed to
stay on) ·
Dana, 2-year term, first term staggered, can stay on for
multiple terms. Fees ·
Kathy involved in phone conference among state chapters to
determine uniform way to collect the money. ·
Dave will contact Bill Hubbard to determine uniform due
collection process. ·
By laws include guidance on fees. ·
Should we have state dues? Could be premature but may help
with small items (ie: postage). Right now goes to national, $5.00 per member
comes back. Postponed this decision to
future. Committees: decided that
they are not needed yet. Membership ·
Active Members – Must
pay dues to the National Association and be an Extension Educator, Program
Assistant or Faculty with an Extension appointment. (See bylaws) ·
Honorary members- Need to be voted in by active members and
are then part of the state chapter. However, they don’t need to pay dues to
the national association. Also, they have note voting rights.(See bylaws) ·
Nathan mentioned the possibility that some members of
outside business/other organizations may ask to become members and then try
to use their membership as advocacy for their group (ex. Coal company). We
noted that the bylaws state that we have to vote as a quorum and honorary
members must explain why they want to be members. This should be reviewed by
everyone in by-laws. Consider increased protection, name can’t be used
separately by another organization without approval by board. ·
Active member/voting member must also be a national member. Web Page ·
Decided that we will create a basic web site, with member names,
area of specialization, with links to national site and Extension web page.
Also, we will keep notes from past meetings and our bylaws on this page. Other Business ·
Discussed having quarterly meetings as we get started. ·
By-laws state that a quorum can occur by telephone/email. ·
A project or goal could be to have networking/education
session. ·
Could offer awards at Extension Awards Banquet. ·
We should use the Master Naturalist program as a platform to
advertise ANREP. Comer
motioned to adjourn, Robert seconded. Adjourn 6:39 |
